This message is sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.

This message contains descriptions of attempted sexual assault.

Boulder Police and CU Boulder Police are searching for a suspect in an altercation that occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. CUPD received confirmation of an incident within the university’s Clery geography today, July 5. While the incident was initially reported as an attempted sexual assault on Boulder Police social media, the investigation is ongoing. 

A female who was walking southbound on Broadway between Baseline and 18th Street reported to Boulder Police that a male physically confronted her and a struggle ensued near or in the underpass that runs under Baseline Road.  The victim's gray/silver over the ear style headphones were stolen. The victim used pepper spray on the suspect and was able to seek assistance at a nearby fire station.

Police are searching for the suspect. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 5’8” tall with long, shaggy brown hair. He was described as wearing a blue or gray shirt or hoodie, along with shorts or sweatpants.

Boulder Police are investigating and CUPD is assisting with the investigation.
