Police have arrested a person of interest on unrelated charges in connection with an assault that occurred Monday, July 15, near campus.

Boulder Police and CU Boulder Police took the individual into custody on Monday evening near 19th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. 

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. Monday, CUPD assisted Boulder Police with an incident that occurred on the bike path near Scott Carpenter Park. It was reported that a victim was stabbed while walking on the path. 

CUPD wishes to thank the public for their help in identifying the person of interest and calling police to report the individual’s location. 

The Boulder Police Department’s investigation into the stabbing remains ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Byars at ByarsS@bouldercolorado.gov or 303-441-1970 reference case 24-6951.

As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.

CU Boulder Police (CUPD) is assisting Boulder Police with an incident that occurred shortly before 11:00 this morning on the bike path near Scott Carpenter Park. It was reported that a victim was stabbed while walking on the path.

Police are searching for the suspect, who is described as wearing a tribal style of mask and possibly riding a bicycle. There is no further suspect description at this time.
