CU Safety Alert: Reported assault near Fiske Planetarium

CUPD is investigating a reported assault that occurred just southwest of Fiske Planetarium at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19. Two male students reported being assaulted by a group of three college-age male suspects. Both victims received head injuries during the assault. Both victims received medical attention but were not transported to the hospital.

Police are searching for the suspects, who are described as:

  • Suspect 1: slim build, 5’10” tall with braided hair and blonde highlights on the tips and wearing a blue sweater.

  • Suspect 2: large build 5’10” tall wearing a black hoodie with white lettering

  • Suspect 3: thin build

These safety tips can help protect from assault:

  • Be aware of your surroundings.

  • Download the Guardian app. It offers safety features including a timer so designated emergency contacts can monitor those walking, biking or scootering alone and call for help if the individual doesn’t reach a destination at the expected time.

  • Don’t walk home alone at night. Walk in groups and stay in well-lit areas as much as possible.

  • Walk away from a situation if you feel it is being escalated.
