CU Advisory: Wildland fire near NCAR

The Boulder Office of Disaster Management has announced that the Dinosaur Fire is 100% contained. Fire crews will continue to monitor the Flatirons west of NCAR through tomorrow (July 14) to ensure full extinguishment. Trail closures remain in effect overnight and are expected to reopend Sunday, July 14 or Monday, July 15. Please continue to avoid the area to allow fire crews to work.

The Boulder Office of Disaster Management has lifted the Dinosaur Fire Advisory. The fire is 35% contained and fire officials expect to have it fully contained today. Fire lines set up around the fire held overnight and now over 70 firefighters will continue working throughout the day until the fire is out. Smoke may still be visible at times today.

The Boulder Office of Disaster Management Call Center (303-413-7730) will remain open until 5:00 p.m. today, Friday, July 12. More than 75 firefighters remain on scene of the Dinosaur Fire in south Boulder.
ODM encourages all Boulder county residents to sign up to receive text updates during fires and other disasters, by texting BOCOinfo to 888777.

An Advisory has been issued by the Boulder Office of Disaster Management for the areas surrounding NCAR due to the Dinosaur Fire. While there are no current evacuation orders in place, Boulder ODM says those who require extra time or have to transport medical equipment should begin making preparation plans now. Stay informed and be ready.
In addition, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an air quality health advisory due to wildfire smoke. The advisory stands from Friday, July 12 at 1 p.m. to Saturday, July 13, at 9 a.m.

Per the Boulder Office of Disaster Management (Boulder ODM), community members can sign up for text alerts on the Dinosaur Fire near NCAR. Text “BOCOinfo” to the number 888777 to begin receiving alerts. The request only needs to be made once. The service is free, except for any data usage charges that might apply.

Boulder Fire-Rescue and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, with the support of other agencies, are responding to a wildland fire near NCAR. Avoid the area, all trails are closed.
